Case Study 1 - JCJ Locums
Overview
JCJ Locums Ltd is a 100 user business that approached us to support their network and IT infrastructure. It was explained to us that JCJ had become a market leader in the medical recruitment sector as they were able to match and place candidates quicker than their competitors.
This was mainly due to an excellent workforce and secondly due to a completely bespoke IT infrastructure. This IT infrastructure included 16 bit applications and various applications that had been developed in house over the years.
Requirements
Due to JCJ having a workforce that worked 24 hours a day 7 days a week, they required support all year round.
Due to the nature of JCJ's 16 bit application called Superbase, all their applications had to be kept on one terminal server, this is an exceptional challenge as Microsoft strongly recommend that you never have more than 50 users on a single terminal server.
As most of the applications within the business were not "off the shelf", it was essential that we could guarantee JCJ that we could familiarise ourselves with all their systems and be able to support what is not a standard "out the box" environment.
Solution
Comprendo have put systems and procedures in place that now allow us to support our customers 24/7 days a week, 365 days a year. This goes for all our customers and is built into any support agreement as we believe very few businesses actually only work from 9 till 5...
As a Microsoft Certified Partner, Comprendo has access to large libraries of technical information, using this information and our already existing hardware knowledge we were able to use JCJ's existing infrastructure to allow them to continue to grow. We have daily checklists which allow us to keep their terminal server running all week.
A complete replicated/test environment of all JCJ's servers was created within our "in-house" environment. This allowed us to fully analyse and understand JCJ's complex environment. We now know the systems as if they were our own and therefore are able to provide them with valuable support right from our junior 1st line support right up to the senior consultants.
