Our telephone systems run off an Asterisk server. We have offices in the UK, Switzerland and South

Africa.

When out of the office, I use X-Lite to connect to our Phone

System. Until recently this worked well but in the last 3 weeks my calls have been disconnected or hung up after 30 seconds. This happened with every

call.

If I phoned the number back straight away, the call lasted until I chose to end it.

target="_blank">Counterpath (the developers of X-Lite) do not offer support for the free X-Lite program. I did eventually find the answer to my problem

after browsing forums.

This is what I found. First go to the options and choose Advanced. Then click the network button. Under the section

“Call Inactivity” take a tick out of the box “In times of network disruption, automatically hang up calls after:” (default setting is 30

seconds).

Another setting you can check is under the Account Properties  then the Advanced Tab. In the second section

“Advanced Options”, take a tick out of the box “Send SIP-keep alives”.

These settings will stop your

X-Lite from disconnecting a call automatically after 30 seconds.
