I literally am learning new things everyday! This week we have been ordering and arranging new Anti Virus for our clients and finding new telephone numbers to use with our VOIP phones! VOIP really is the new technology for telephone usage and its very easy!

X-Lite Contacts Greyed Out in Windows 7

I came from using x-lite in a Windows XP environment and all was fine, i upgraded to Windows 7 and found that my contacts list did not work!

I could add contacts but the functionality was not there! I could’nt edit or add groups.

The solution after a little digging was actually pretty simple. Go to the icon or shortcut you use to launch x-lite and right-click it and choose properties. Go to the Compatability tab and tick the check box and choose Windows Vista (Service Pack 2).

Apply the settings and re-open x-lite. Your contacts list will now function correctly.

We have a split office of different nationalities and we have a wide range of flags being hung!

Our MD, Anthony Humphreys and our IT Support Manager David Ashworth are South African, and are both enjoying seeing their home country in such high spirits! Our Office Manager Julie Martin is English and our Software Director and programmers are Swiss!!

Following a power cut, our client in the education recruitment sector found their systems, phones and internet disconnected.

Within 20 minutes we were at the clients performing tests to ascertain the problem.

They had 3 units which 2 were unable to reboot. I transferred power from the faulty unit and connected to another source. Then I moved the cabling from the ProCurve Switch to a Cisco Catalyst and re powered their phones.

They were then able to reconnect. Business was effected for 60 minutes after diagnosis. Without our IT Support contract, the business would’ve been offline for numerous hours or even days!

Its true what they say in that no 2 weeks within IT are the same!

We have received an enquiry from a local primary school, to supply, install and support their new ICT Department. This includes installing wireless throughout the building, ensuring all classrooms and rooms have wireless connection, installing 15 new laptops and also a Smart Board in their gym room!

WOW! What a week!

Our client in the Medical sector moved offices this week and unfortunately suffered with connection issues. We discovered after testing that their switch box was failing and therefore causing speed issues also. Our teams expertise within IT Networking ensured that the client suffered minimal disruption and they were back up and running the next working day!

New hardware installed to ensure best quality memory

Since our server issues with our client in the Medical recruitment industry last weekend, we have been installing new hard drives and memory this week.

Got to admit its something new for me to do and its been great! Learning new things is always a bonus, but to know that it ensures the client receives quality memory in the future, its even better!

Server Issues ensured 24/7 Support

Our client in the Medical Recruitment sector experienced massive server issues on Friday.

Watson, as the server is effectionately known, decided to fail which meant a new server was needed to be built, installed, tested and online within 48 hours.

Our team pulled together and with sheer hard work, commitment, enthusiasm and drive we are able to put the server back online ready for 7am Monday morning. With little disruption to our client. Our IT Department with their quick thinking, transferred users to an alternative server which meant they were still able to access company information while they got busy with fixing Watson!
